The best time to see purple heather in full bloom is often in late summer in the UK, peaking in August. Heather plants often grow together as a thick and bushy carpet on moorlands and slopes of the uplands, creating a magical view.

I really enjoyed the feeling of taking a walk around Ilkley Moor with blankets of heather along the sides or standing on the stone hills and look down to see the whole view which is absolutely stunning and peaceful.

Ilkley Moor is also a perfect backdrop for photo shoots such as pre-wedding shooting. I have visited the venue three times so far and can not wait to come back the next time.
